When things don’t go as planned

It's Monday!

I had a clear plan.
I was feeling motivated and ready to conquer the week ahead- especially today.
I recommitted to my goals.
Realigned with my values and priorities.

Let's. Do. This.

Then today started by waking up at 4 am with terrible stomach pains.
I’d just run 17 miles on Sunday and took ibuprofen. #marathonprep
I took it with food and lots of water but in an effort to relieve some swelling in my body, I gave myself a stomach ache.

I’ve been here before so I drank water,  propped up my pillows and plugged in the heating pad.
In the past, I would have let this derail my plan for the day.
I would do what I had to but forget the extras.
But the extras are what I was excited about!

The extras are helping me reach my goals!

So I got up at my planned time and I began working on my priority list for the day.
It’s a bummer when things don’t go as planned.
Of course, it is okay to rest if you are sick!
But I knew this was a test.

Would I still work on my goals even though things weren’t exactly how I wanted them to be?
Would laying in bed with a heating pad help my stomach any more than sitting up on my laptop with a heating pad? No.

This meant it was time for me to accept the discomfort and stay the course.

I hope that no matter what your goals are or what your Monday looks like- this inspires you to keep moving forward even when things don’t go as planned.Love + Light,

Chelsea Zen
